This is so long overdue. I mean really....by weeks and weeks. Mom, i'm hanging my head in shame...sorry for making you wait so long.
Well, my baby brother graduated from college. 21 years ago I was cutting his umbilical cord. On May 5th I watched him proudly with tears in my eyes as he accepted two degrees (count 'em....TWO!) in film studies and journalism. He's smart. And by smart I mean he's read every book in the library and can beat you in a debate on any subject known to man.
Law school??? Maybe so???
(we've been saying since he was 2 he should be a lawyer. He has strong negotiation skills.)
I had a walk down memory lane walking around the University of Colorado campus. Oh how I love and miss Boulder. So many memories of being young and carefree.
We could not have ordered up better weather, it was absolutely beautiful. We had a full and fun day of family and celebrating Mr. Jake.
I'm so proud of my baby brother.
Handsome graduate.
Duke got a little restless and noisy during the first ceremony so we snuck out in the hallway and took advantage of the amazing stained glass window lighting for some pictures.
I forgot just how beautiful Macky auditorium is. Also, I don't think I have ever been inside in the daylight. It's stunning.
Graduation #2 was outside. Perfect, beautiful, sunny weather. The boy is looking good in his cap and gown.
This is when my eyes started to water.
Cranky baby boy. Again. Dada did a good job keeping him quiet and out of ear shot of the ceremony.
Proud Parents.
He may have graduated from college, but sometimes he still needs to borrow Duke's pacifier.
Love the flatirons. Love, love love.
Family.
I want the baby.....no I want the baby.....
Pretty soon.....
(we're already saving)
Cute! Jakey and Kyra in front of his freshman dorm room.
Baby boy felt grass for the first time. He loves looking at the sky and being outside. Maybe he'll be a park ranger.
He he......
He hehehehehe.......
Right about this time a group of college kids who may or may not have been smoking something in the park walked by and thought this was preeeeetty hilarious. Look at that tiny person. Sitting on the wall. Whoa.
We were in Boulder after all.
Dada having the time of his life....Duke....not so much.
We wore the poor kid out. This was his final straw. Mama.....STOP TAKING MY PICTURE! I don't want to drive Pop Pop's car. Hold me mama, hold me.
We finished the day with a delicious steak dinner at Bastien's in Denver. It's been around since 1937. It's very vintage and very Jake. All in all, it was a wonderful day.
Jake, we are so proud of you.
You have accomplished so much already and the future is all yours. We can't wait to see what you decide to do next.
Good job baby brother.
Love,
Chelsea
