On our way back to LAX we ended up with enough extra time (with our built in travel / traffic time) for a quick stop in Venice for lunch and a few stolen minutes of sunshine and toes in the sand. We said sad goodbyes to the Pacific and headed to the airport only to find out that our flight was CANCELLED. We would have actually been excited about that news if we had kept our rental car. We ended up at an airport Sheraton for the night but made the most of it and took the bus into Santa Monica for sushi and shopping. Lemonade out of lemons.
